The diocesan medical benefits program is administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama. Plan benefits follow PLAN 300 as marketed by BCBS of Alabama.
In addition employee medical benefits are supplemented by a Health Reimbursement Account established by the diocese and employer for each family or single member. This HRA can be used to cover co-pay,deductibles and other approved medical expenses. Debit cards are issued to plan members permitting this benefit to be accessed without filing claims for reimbursement.
Premiums for the diocesan medical benefits program are $376/monthly for individuals and $935/monthly for families.

DENTAL BENEFITS
Eligibility. Lay and ordained employees of parishes and institutions of the diocese and working at least 20 hours per week are eligible. Employees must apply for coverage within 30 days of beginning employment.Plan Overview. Administered by Fortis Benefits Insurance Company for Protective Life, the plan offers two levels of coverage allowing employees to tailor the plan to fit their needs.
Both selections feature:

- Benefits underwritten by a financially strong company
- Fast and accurate claims service.

Children ages 0-2 are free.
Open Enrollment. Employees who do not enter the program within 30 days of beginning employment may make application during the month of December each year. This rule is waived if late application is necessitated by the loss of existing coverage. Forms and More Information.
